  • The Department of Electrical Power Technology was established in the year 1997 to generate highly qualified professionals and technical manpower in the field of Electrical Power Engineering for the Defence Forces in particular and the Nation as a whole The Department runs a degree program, organizes and conducts short-term training programs on the topics of interest for practicing engineers, technicians as well as technical teachers of various organizations, colleges and schools.The electrical power engineer of the department can work as a design engineer, technologist and maintenance engineer, as a researcher in research institutions and as a manager in firms dealing with production, service and trade in the field of electrical engineering at various industrial, military and commercial establishments.

    • Encourage and appropriately reward interdisciplinary research within and outside the Department; Increase research funds overall in the College; Increase the number of journal publications and the number of faculty who regularly submit journal articles
    • To train students with the breadth and depth of knowledge and intellectual and professional skills those prepare them for a productive life in the challenging Defence environment

    • To make our Defence reliant on its electrical power engineers in the conduct of current military operations while positioning the Defence for the successful conduct of future operations
    • Producing competent electrical engineers in fields of specializations like: - Power System and Drives, Control and automation. Conduct Defense specific research and development activities that address current challenges Analyze and forecast technological trends and enable the Defense prepared for the future.

  • It is obvious that delivery of quality education is highly dependent on the availability of qualified and experienced academic as well as support staff members. Electrical Power Engineering department has 25 full time and no part-time academic staff members for both the UG and PG programs.
