• An important aspect of DEC’s educational approach is the emphasis placed on student involvement in independent study, research, and the creative process as a complement to classroom study. Independent research in laboratories, field study and participation in writing workshops are normal elements of the DEC experience.

  • Departmental research activities shall involve students in research and creative activities. The department provides an atmosphere conducive to creative work and research undertakings at all levels, to exploring the accumulated knowledge of humanity, and to developing new knowledge through research.

  • Projects will help the students develop the skill of solving actual and existing problems of Defence. This also helps them build their confidence and belongingness. The project will be assigned to the students in the ninth semester and in this semester, they are expected to present the first phase of the work and the remaining part of the project should be completed in the final semester (10th semester) with full document of work done..


  • The students’ project shall be, as much as possible, need based problem solving. For that the department has a close link with defense aerospace industry and Air Force to identify research areas. From another side students are encouraged to identify research areas and up on getting approval they shall undertake the research with a close supervision and guidance of faculty.

  • The students will be asked to participate or develop a mini/semester/research based projects or specialized program related industrial projects to fulfill the various requirements of MoND sectors.And the project report is expected to show of thought and expression, critical appreciation of the existing literature and analytical and /or experimental or design skill.

  • Project is a culmination activity of the training undertaken. Students will either choose their project or will be assigned by the department. As much as possible, these projects are made to focus on the defence-oriented problems.
